Job specification, freelance Forest School leader @ Shared Earth Learning Co-op
Between £11 and 17.50 per hour for anything from 3 to 20 hrs per week
Contract initially for 3 months probationary period

We are looking for new team members. We need qualified forest school leaders and enthusiastic assistants.
We are a charitable benefit society, run as a co-op. Our aim is to nurture a love of nature and we prioritise the
needs of the least advantaged in our community.
We are fundraising to expand our offering to children, young people and adults in Frome.
We need part-time team members to join our co-op so we can do more.
Potential roles/responsibilities for new recruit:
FOREST SCHOOL LEADERS (17.50/hr, level 3 qualified, 1-2 days per week initially)
Preparation and delivery of adult well-being sessions; including adults with learning difficulties,
ex-offenders and complex needs
Preparation and delivery of Forest school sessions in schools, on our site, and during the holidays
Working with schoolchildren and young people ‘at risk’ of disengagement
Publicity and awareness raising
Preparing and running community workshops
Fundraising
Fully aware of issues around of safeguarding and inclusion
Able to work outdoors in all weather
Kit-care and site maintenance
Evaluation and monitoring of participants and programmes.
FOREST SCHOOL ASSISTANT (£10/hr, flexible hours)
Assist with delivery of ‘forest school’ outdoor learning for children and adults
Working with adults and children who may have complex needs
An understanding of safeguarding and inclusion
Able to work outdoors in all weather
Assist with kit-care and site maintenance
Assist with Evaluation and monitoring of participants and programmes.
Applicants’ Skills and experience
Essential:
Experience of working with groups with or without additional needs and/or challenging behaviour in adults or children.
good rapport with young people.
Up to date DBS
Good practice and experience of inclusion
Ability to work in a way that promotes safeguarding and well-being of children and young people
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to operate within terms of data protection and confidentiality requirements
Based in Frome area
Applicant must be freelance/self-employed, and responsible for their own tax affairs.

able to attend monthly team meetings

Desirable:
A Forest School qualification
Experience in horticulture
experience of teaching in schools
good literacy skills

unpaid - planning and preparation in time to start delivery in February.
