Edventure & SELco & opportunities for Frome's Young People

We've teamed up with EDVENTURE Frome! They will be working for us throughout Autumn; very exciting. Please pass the word far and wide as we need some groovy Young People to get this project moving!

Apply now for Edventure Start-Up

course runs: Mon 13 Sep - Fri 3 Dec 2021

This challenge is an opportunity to experience both the tools needed to start-up a viable social enterprise, and the permaculate design process – designing intelligent systems which meet human needs whilst enhancing biodiversity, reducing our impact on the planet, and creating a fairer world for us all.

You will work in partnership with Shared Earth Learning (SELCo) whose mission is to grow people’s wellbeing outdoors. SELCo offer forest school sessions to more disadvantaged members of our community. They find that their members reach a crunch point at 16 years old when they are expected to get a job, go into training, or step into further education but often lack the necessary qualifications, skills & support.

This Edventure student team will create a real social enterprise that is a safe working/learning space for those 16-18yr olds to grow, market and sell edible produce using permaculture methods. It will involve setting up a permaculture space – polytunnel, irrigation, compost loo? And designing a business model whereby those 16-18-year-olds can go on to earn a viable income on the land.

The Hedgerow grows...

and slowly but surely the 3 lines of buried barbed wire are painstakingly drawn from the soil.
